Contracts

Overview (OOC)
A Contract is an alternative to Quests. These do not grant any bonus EXP rewards on their own, but these are considered fully in-character. Contracts are drafted by Player Characters (PCs) to accomplish a certain objective. Generally only 1 specific objective. Contracts can be anywhere from "Kill X Character" to "Obtain Y item and bring it to me". The rewards are generally provided by the Contract Creator.

Not Guild Certified
Contracts ARE NOT Adventurer Guild certified and normally do not align with the Adventurer Guild's morals and objectives. Contracts are considered as 'Blood Binding' and often include criminal activity. It is due to this reason that the Adventurer's Guild will hold no liability nor deal punishment for not upholding their end of the Contract. The Adventurer's Guild will not be involved unless the Contract's objective ends up involving the Guild. As the Guild cannot read the Contract (as that's metagaming) the Guild will not react to the creation of the Contract and will only react if the actions to fulfill the Contract go against the Guild's interest (such as destroying the Guild Hall, etc). When this happens, the Guild will create an Emergency Quest to deal with Client and possibly the Contractor.

Drafting the Contract
The person who writes up the Contract is called the 'Client'. The Client is required to, In-Character, contact a potential Contractor (another player) In-Character. Once contact is made and the idea of a Contract is agreed upon, the Client is required to create a Contract. The Client is required to have the following items:
      Demon Papers
      At least 2 Blood Coins
The Client is required to write up a Contract upon the Demon Paper. Use the following format:

    Code:
    [b]Contract Objective[/b]:
    [b]Contract Rewards[/b]:

    [b]Client Name[/b]:
    [b]Contractor Name[/b]:

This will be written up in the topic. If the Client and Contractor both agree to the Objectives and Rewards, the Client and Contractor will take a Blood Coin and cut themselves upon the edge of the Blood Coin. Each will smear their blood upon their Blood Coin and give it to one another. The Contractor will give their blood-covered Blood Coin to the Client and the Client will give their blood-covered Blood Coin to the Contractor. Afterwards, they will press a blood-covered thumb upon the Demon Paper signing the Contract. Once the Contract has been signed by both parties, the Demon Paper will be impervious to altering, as if the Demon Paper becomes laminated.

The Contract will stay with the Client. Each of the coins will also remain with the opposing parties.

Successful Contract
A successful Contract is when the job is completed and the rewards are handed over properly. Usually, the Contractor will return to the Client after successful completion of the Contract Objective. The Contractor will generally return with proof of the Contract being fulfilled -- if it's an assassination, a finger or item associated with the target will be returned as proof. Upon showing proof, the Client will hand over the reward to the Contractor. Once everything has been exchanged, the Contract will be shown.

The Contractor will place their Blood Coin -- blood-side down upon their thumb-print. Once the Blood Coin is placed upon their own thumb-print, the coin will vanish. The Client will do the same. Once that is completed, the Contract will burn away.  The Contract will be considered fulfilled -- what happens afterwards is between the Client and the Contractor and backlash will be between people -- not involving the Contract.

Failure to Uphold Contract
There are certain factors that can result in a failure to uphold the Contract. The Contract, itself, is a decree and promise witnessed by the God of Vengeance. Lying and failing to uphold the Contract is the same as lying to the God of Vengeance.
Contractor lying about job completion:  The Contract will know if the Contractor is lying. When the Client presses their Blood Coin to the Contract, the Blood Coin will bounce off of the Contract and the Contractor's thumbprint and the Contractor's blood upon the Client's Blood Coin will turn black, turning into a Black-Blood Coin. The Contract will not burn.
Client not giving the correct rewards:  If the Client has lied or not produced the promised rewards written on the Contract, the Contractor's blood upon the Contractor's Blood Coin will turn black, turning into a Black-Blood Coin.
If either side betrays the other: If the Contract was used for other purposes other than fulfilling the Contract, such as hatch a trap on the other, the side that got betrayed will have their Blood Coin turn into a Black-Blood Coin, with the blood upon the coin turning black.
Once a Black-Blood Coin has been produced, the one to not withhold their bargain will obtain a branding upon their forehead.
Upon gaining this branding, a Vengeance Bounty will be placed upon that target.

Vengeance Bounty
All those with a Vengeance Bounty Hunter Passive will immediately obtain knowledge of the Vengeance Bounty. This will affect everyone throughout the Lost Continent that has the Vengeance Bounty Hunter Passive. The identity of the one with the Bounty and their last location will ingrained into their minds. Anyone with a Vengeance Bounty placed upon them will be fair game with most militaries and other guard units turning a blind eye to their assassination. The ones who kills the Vengeance Bounty will suffer no legal ramification for assassinating the marked Vengeance Bounty.

The rewards for successfully clearing a Vengeance Bounty is all of the Bounty's possessions as well as 25% of their TXP. If multiple people kill the Bounty, they will share the possessions as well as the TXP. (So if 5 people kill the Bounty, they will share the 25% TXP evenly).

While having a Vengeance Bounty, that person may not engage in another Contract.
